The symposium venue is Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara. The University located in the western part of the city has quite a large area (44 sq km) which also comprises lake Eymir. The campus itself occupies only the northern tip of this area close to Eskisehir road. The University established in 1956 moved to its present site in 1963. The area originally barren has been forested, and now together with Ataturk Orman Ciftligi is the greenest part of the city. Archeological sites such as Yalıncak, Ahlatlıbel and Kocumbeli which are within the borders of the University have been excavated and the artefacts uncovered are on display in the University Museum.
METU Ankara campus has a student population of approximately 25000; two thirds of which are undergraduates and one third are graduates (3000 PhD. students) distributed over 5 faculties and 5 graduate schools. The total number of the alumni is more than 114,000. METU, according to Times Higher Education (THE) survey is within the first 100 Universities in “World University Rankings” . The university also houses a technopark with more than 240 firms employing approximately 3000 researchers.
The symposium will take place in Culture and Convention Center centrally located within the campus which accommodates a number of meeting halls and a large exhibition hall.
